Runner app
The purpose of this project was to create a business model for a new product or system. As part of a class project, my team created “RUNNER“, a food service mobile app that allows attendees of sports games and events to order concessions straight from their phone. Users connect their location services to easily order food and drinks with the option to have their food delivered by order “Runners” for a small fee, or to pick it up at the nearest concession stand with no charge. All without missing a single play!
Process
RUNNER came out of a need to design something to help avid sports game fans avoid time spent waiting in line at games when they could be watching from their seats. We first assessed the market need and size through surveys, a SWOT analysis, and conducted an industry/marketplace analysis. From the information we acquired, we were able to define our target market and generate a marketing plan. Once we defined our business strategy, I began to work through user scenarios and user stories in preparation for app ideation (view these here). I created a flow chart that detailed the functions within the app and then designed the screens based on the flow.

My role
This was a project completed in a business course, so I took the role of the designer for the team. While we collectively generated the business model and flow, I created the color scheme, logo, and app screens.
Tools
After sketching my ideas by hand, I used Illustrator to create the logo and Sketch to create the screens.
Outcome
This app was not developed, but it was an excellent exercise in app ideation and process.
